Background

5 years, 59 protests and 1,500+ mass shooting deaths later ...

On December 14, 2012, the horrific murders of 26 at Sandy Hook Elementary School should have led to safe and sane gun laws. If not then, when? But Congress and the National Rifle Association (NRA) chose gun manufacturer profits and fat re-election coffers over human safety. So, gun violence prevention groups in the Washington, DC, area held their first large protest at the NRA on the one-month anniversary of the shooting - January 14, 2013.

Every month since then, on the 14th at 10 a.m., stalwart advocates of sensible gun laws have rallied at the NRA to keep this conversation alive. But 5 years, 59 protests and 1,500+ mass shooting deaths later, neither the NRA nor Congress has shown any inclination to put the value of human lives above gun manufacturer profits.

On, December 14, 2017, our 60th rally will bring together faith leaders from across the nation to let the NRA and Congress know that this gross disregard for human life cannot stand and that something must be done to put humanity above greed and power.
